Announcing Rubato: A New Choir for 10–17yo Beginners

Do you know (or are you) a young person who has always wanted to sing but hasn’t had the chance? Melbourne Youth Chorale is thrilled to announce the launch of Rubato, a new youth choir for beginners aged 10–17. Starting in Term 1, 2025, Rubato is all about inclusion, fun, and professional music education—and there are no auditions required!

Why join Rubato?

Rubato is designed to provide a welcoming space for young people to explore the joy of singing, regardless of their prior experience. Whether your young person sings in the shower, hums to their favourite tunes, or has never sung before, this is the perfect opportunity for them to find their voice. Here’s why Rubato stands out:

  • No Experience Needed: Absolute beginners are warmly welcomed.
  • Inclusive and Supportive: All young singers aged 10–17 are included and encouraged.
  • Accessible Fees: MYC operates on a donate-what-you-can basis, ensuring financial accessibility for all families.
  • Pathway to Professional Music: Participants will receive professional music education that can even lead to VCE music.

When and Where?

Rehearsals for Rubato will take place:

  • Wednesdays, 5:30 PM – 7:00 PM
  • At Hampton Park Secondary College
