Originally from Hong Kong, Joey graduated from Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) with a Bachelor degree in Music, majoring in classical piano. She has achieved the AMEB Grade 8 piano, ATCL Piano Recital, and ABRSM Grade 8 theory. She also plays the guitar and sings.

Joey is an experienced chorister. She started singing in the Hong Kong Children's Choir at the age of seven, and was selected as a member of one of the performing classes. She was a chairlady of her high school choir, a former member of the HKBU Choir, and a singer of HKBU Christian Band. She is currently a member of the Royal Melbourne Philharmonic Choir.

Joey is passionate about music therapy and music education for children and adolescents with special educational needs. She believes that every child deserves the gift of music, and that music therapy helps children to develop social, communication, and cognitive skills based on a child-centered and strength-based approach.
