Simon Loveless

Deputy Artistic Director

Simon is active in choral music as a conductor, accompanist, singer, tutor, administrator, and advocate. He currently directs Casey Choir, accompanies Excelsis, sings with Gippsland Chamber Singers, works in the music departments of two local schools, regularly accompanies events for Gippsland Opera, and serves as state treasurer of the Australian National Choral Association.

Prior associations include directing Da Capo Singers, West Gippsland Chorale, Latrobe Chorale and RMIT Concert Choir; accompanying Melbourne Women's Choir, Australian Welsh Male Choir, Yarra Ranges Children's Choir and Cranbourne Chorale; singing with Melbourne Chamber Choir; and extensive work as a freelance accompanist.

Simon joined what was then the City of Berwick Children's Choir in its first year of existence, singing with the choir for just over four years. He credits his time with the choir, and the inspired teaching of Jean Heriot, for everything he has since achieved as a musician. He returned to MYC in 2005 as a tutor, later taking on the roles of accompanist and assistant artistic director. He currently leads the Heriot and Opal choirs, as well as accompanying and tutoring all other MYC ensembles.
