Robert studied classical voice at the Melba Conservatorium of Music (BMus) before completing a Master of Business Administration (MBA). Robert has held senior roles within private enterprise, government and the not-for-profit sectors, working across higher education, emergency management, and arts administration. Robert currently serves as Chief Operating Officer for the Federal Office of the Australian Music Examinations Board (AMEB). Robert lives within the City of Casey and three of his children are proud choristers within MYC. He enjoys contributing to the governance and operations of the organisation and attending MYC performances and events.

Alan’s daughter Francesca was a chorister with MYC from 2015 to 2017 during which time Alan joined the MYC Board in a volunteer capacity as Treasurer and Chair of the MYC Major Grants Team. He left the Board in 2018 for personal reasons.

He re-joined the MYC Board as Vice President in January 2023 following 15 months of engagement supporting the strategic direction of MYC and its operation as a fundraising organisation.

Alan has over 4 decades of experience locally and internationally building enterprises across technology, training & management, career transition, education and wholesaling/distribution.

In 2009, Alan founded and guided both strategy and funding for Insight Education Centre for the Blind & Vision Impaired in Berwick. Insight is a 21st Century model of specialist education linked to pathways to employment to better serve the long term needs of people of all ages who are blind or vision impaired. While managing Insight, Alan also invested considerable energy in school leadership, with multi-term Council and Presidential roles at Nossal High School and many years in Council roles at Frankston High School.

Alan returned to Australia in 2008 for family reasons, selling his interest in the Italian business.

In 1991, Alan founded a successful business in Italy, providing specialist services to, amongst others, 14 Fortune 50 and leading Italian companies.

Behind Alan’s success in all that he does is a passion for long-term strategic relationships coupled with a commitment to delivering above expectations.

Alan has a B. Engineering (Communications) degree from RMIT University.

Kerry’s early career as a legal secretary in probate and corporate law has stood her in good stead to guide the operations of MYC. Since 2020 when Kerry came onto the Board at a time when the organisation was at a very low ebb, MYC rebounded under Kerry’s leadership as President, and become the thriving organisation that it is today, leading to Kerry taking on a paid role as Executive Manager in December 2024.

Kerry has a strong background in music, particularly enjoying and valuing singing. She did a crash-course in Kodaly music education in order to fill a gap teaching the youngest choristers for two years and continues to tutor all age groups.

Kerry home educates her six children, all of whom are MYC choristers, and she has loved learning alongside them. Having witnessed MYC’s programs change her children’s lives through the gift of music, Kerry is passionate about nurturing children to grow in self-confidence and develop a growth mindset to learning through music.

Music has been a constant in Pheba’s life for as long as she can remember. She believes deeply in MYC’s philosophy that every child deserves the gift of music, knowing firsthand how powerful it can be in shaping confidence, creativity, and community.

With over 15 years in the not-for-profit sector and community-based services, Pheba has seen the impact that a unified, grassroots, passionate group can have in making a difference. She’s excited to bring her experience to MYC, helping to ensure more young voices are nurtured and celebrated. As a mum of three, she’s also had the joy of seeing her children thrive through MYC’s top-tier music education—so for her, this isn’t just about a role, it’s about something truly close to her heart.

Trina became involved as a parent with MYC since March 2023. Growing up in a musical family that sang all the time both as a group and with various choirs, she is passionate about the positive influence that music and singing has on children, young people (and adults too!). She was impressed by the power of the Kodály concept that MYC uses to teach music literacy and thus was inspired to join the board in October 2023, bringing her passion and experience to help MYC's impact grow!

With over 30 years of experience in finance and payroll, Tracey brings valuable skills to Melbourne Youth Chorale as Treasurer. She has a strong track record of managing finances accurately and efficiently.

Tracey values MYC's commitment to bringing diverse groups together and helping children with the discipline, teamwork and confidence which benefits them in all areas of life.

Outside of work, Tracey is a proud mother of two adult children. Her dedication to both her family and career make her a great asset to the team.

Katya joined MYC's board in 2024. A parent of three children in Melbourne Youth Chorale Katya brings passion for MYC's mission and values. As a professional artist, Katya brings her flair into creative ideas for the direction and future of MYC.

Mike joined the Board in 2023 and has been enjoying MYC performances for many years. As a non-parent supporter of MYC Mike brings diverse experience in the not-for-profit sector in social development, social education, graphic design and IT. He aims to embody an empathic and curious approach to life and people. As a husband, dad and grandpa, Mike loves that his extended family has “loose edges” and welcomes in those who often feel left out, and being a life-long musician and community-builder, he values the significant work of MYC to bring music education, performance, community and connection to young people of all abilities.
